RE
Religious Education is not only concerned with the spiritual development of the individual but also with the emotional and physical development too. Our school’s main aim is to raise pupils’ awareness of the wide range of religious interpretations and beliefs and to foster personal development. Pupils at our school, hold different religious philosophies. Therefore, the need for pupils to understand differing religious traditions associated with the varying cultures is essential. For this reason, visits to the places of worship are offered and occasionally religious leaders of differing faiths may visit to talk to children, if appropriate.
Despite being non-denominational, the study of Christianity is the most readily available religion in our society, having influenced our culture greatly. School assemblies provide opportunities for the whole school to unite in song, discussion and deliberation. Pupil participation is a regular feature and always encouraged.
Our agreed syllabus is 'Living Difference' and is used to help ensure learning is based on enquiry into concepts, and on the importance of pupils developing and expressing their own beliefs and values. Pupils have the opportunity to respond with their own thoughts, opinions and experiences during RE lessons.
Right to Withdraw
Parents have the right to withdraw their children from Religious Education and from acts of worship. If any parent wishes to do this please contact the Headteacher.
